You really have to feel for the defender in the clip above. During a Drew League game over the weekend, he recorded a pretty nice block after one of his teammates allowed an opposing player to spin his way into the paint. His reward for making the block? An insane posterization at the hands of fellow player Shannon Sharpe.
Sharpe, who plays for the Legacy team in the Drew League, caught the ball in stride near the top of the key after the defender blocked it. He then took one dribble, rose up, and…omg. What happened next might end up going down as the best dunk you’ll see all summer (and possibly, all year). You can watch the dunk in all its glory in the video above, and you can also check out an alternate angle of the dunk here:
We should point out that Sharpe isn’t some scrub. He played two seasons for the University of Colorado back in 2010-11 and 2011-12 before transferring to Cal Poly Pomona. So the poor guy who was on the receiving end of his dunk shouldn’t feel too bad about it. But that didn’t stop Twitter from going crazy after a video of Sharpe’s dunk started making the rounds on social media late Sunday and into Monday morning:
Sheesh. Bet that guy will think twice about trying to play defense next time, eh?
