Paul George may have jokingly referred to Kobe Bryant as “old” back in February, but he’s obviously got the utmost respect for him. PG and Kobe actually shared a special moment the day after the Pacers guard took a lighthearted swipe at him when Kobe gave him a pair of his sneakers. And early Wednesday morning, PG showed just how much respect he has for Kobe when he brought home a new pitbull puppy and named it after him. Within just minutes of introducing his daughter to the dog, PG revealed that he’s naming the puppy “Kobe” on Instagram:

We’re gonna go out on a limb here and say that PG is probably, like, the gazillionth person to name their dog “Kobe,” so his name isn’t super original or anything. If he really wanted to honor Kobe, he should have named the dog after a Harry Potter character like Kobe did with his dog and then made Kobe guess which one he picked. But still, we’re sure Kobe will appreciate the sentiment when he hears about PG naming his dog after him. Especially since it's a pitbull puppy.

Just don’t ask Kobe to pick up dog poop for you, PG, okay?
