Marshawn Lynch retired from the NFL back in February by sending out this cryptic tweet during Super Bowl 50:
He then made his retirement decision official by filing the proper paperwork with the league in May. And as recently as just last week, Lynch’s first cousin Mistah F.A.B. told The Breakfast Club that Beast Mode is “done” playing pro football. So why doesn’t anyone seem to believe him?
60 Minutes Sports managed to nab a super rare sit-down interview with Lynch that will air on Showtime on Tuesday night, and during it, the subject of his retirement came up since there have been rumors about him possibly playing for his hometown Raiders during the 2016-17 NFL season. Curiously, Lynch’s agent Doug Hendrickson told 60 Minutes Sports that he’ll “never say never” when it comes to Lynch and the idea of him coming out of retirement. But according to Lynch, he is 100 percent, without a doubt, no question about it retired.
“I’m retired,” he said. “Is that good enough? Which camera do you want me to look into? I’m done. I’m not playing football anymore.”
That should shut everyone up and get them to leave Lynch alone when it comes to the retirement talk. But we doubt it will. As we inch closer and closer to the start of NFL training camps, the rumors surrounding Lynch are probably only going to intensify, and even if he does sit out next season, he's only 30, so the rumors will likely follow him around for at least another year or two.
