Dez Bryant has been sued by Texas state senator Royce West over damage to a rental home in DeSoto, Texas. According to court papers obtained by the Dallas Morning News, West claims the home needed a number of repairs that totaled $61,546.77. He is now seeking between $100,000 and $200,000 in damages.

Back in September 2013, Bryant started renting the home for $4,720 per month with the expectation that he would keep it "in the same condition in which he received it, excepting normal wear and tear." In January, the Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver terminated the lease and failed to have a representative perform a walk-through inspection of the residence with West.

When West returned to the home, he "found it in a state of serious disrepair: littered with trash and feces, missing blinds and shutters, with cracked windows and blackened carpeting."

Per the Dallas Morning News

The walkthrough revealed irreparable damage to carpeting, flooring, windows, shutters and blinds; the presence of animal feces, trash, debris, and personal property inside the residence; and distinct and pervasive odors throughout.

In April, West's lawyers were unable to reach Bryant. The following month, his attorneys tried again and were met with a letter from Bryant's lawyers, claiming they would sue the state senator if he continued to seek payment for repairs done to the residence. West is looking to be reimbursed for damages, "lost rent and/or expenses, attorney's fees, and pre- and post-judgment interest at the highest allowed rate by the law."
