The captains of the Villanova basketball team, fresh off winning the national championship in stunning fashion against North Carolina, just brightened the life of a young fan. Ryan Arcidiacono and Daniel Ochefu, both seniors, showed up to 4-year-old Blaise Davis’ home and hid out in the play room in his basement, surprising Blaise when he got home.
Blaise has Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare bone cancer that was found in his femur. Asked to rate his Villanova fanhood on a scale of 1-10, he quickly replied, “10!”
Blaise’s parents were visibly emotional during the greeting, with his mother being moved to tears. The plan was set in motion when Blaise’s parents reached out to a friend to build a play room in the basement for their son. The contractor reached out to a friend, who reached out to Villanova assistant Ashley Howard.
“Without hesitation, the guys showed up, no media, no nothing,” said Annie, Blaise’s mom.
She continued to say, “they have given him a memory and a story he can share in his Villanova dorm room one day.”
Shout out to the Wildcats’ leaders for doing this. There’s no doubt this was an unforgettable moment for Blaise, and because of the publicity, donations are pouring in on Blaise’s GoFundMe page. The best news of it all: his mom says he is doing great and is responding to treatment as expected.
