Raheem Sterling is on the brink of sealing one of the biggest commercial deals in British football.

The 21-year-old – who became the most expensive English player of all time when he moved to Manchester City for £49 million last summer – is set to be the first British athlete signed to Apple as a global ambassador.

The tech giants are banking on Raheem Sterling to be one of the stars of Euro 2016 and the deal is reliant on the City midfielder winning his race to be fit for the start of the tournament in June.

Neymar is already an ambassador Apple's Beats brand.

It's unclear what Sterling's role as a brand ambassador for Apple would be, but The Times has likened it to the deal of Neymar, who represents Beats – which Apple acquired in 2014.

The deal is reported to be worth £250,000-a-year to Sterling if it goes through.
