All boxing fans are anticipating a 'Battle of Britain' in the heavyweight division later this year – but not necessarily involving Dillian Whyte.

However, according to Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn, Anthony Joshua could face off against Whyte for a second time later this year in a rematch of their 'fight of the year' contender from December 2015.

Should Anthony Joshua make a successful first defence of his IBF world heavyweight title this summer – and a unification fight with Tyson Fury doesn't materialise – Hearn has said that relighting the fire on Joshua and Whyte's longstanding rivalry may be their best bet, telling Mail Online:

"I saw David Haye saying he heard rumours Dillian Whyte would be in the picture. He isn't ranked and won’t be AJ’s next opponent but I will be meeting with him in the near future as we may want him on that summer card.

Anthony Joshua KO'd Dillian Whyte in the 7th round last December.

London fighters Joshua and Whyte are huge rivals inside and outside of their ring, and their highly-hyped grudge match in 2015 solidified AJ as the biggest star in British boxing.

Whyte suffered a broken jaw in the fight and is yet to make a comeback. We're certain he's up for revenge.
