When Josh Norman sat on the field and cried after Super Bowl 50 ended, he looked like a guy who was already trying to motivate himself to make a trip back to the NFL’s biggest game next season. But if he makes it there, it won’t be with the Panthers.

Earlier this afternoon, less than two months after the Panthers used the franchise tag to keep Norman under contract, Carolina decided to rescind that franchise tag. It seems the Panthers weren’t confident in their ability to sign Norman to a long-term deal, and it will make Norman a free agent, effective immediately.

“After a number of conversations with Josh’s agent, we realized that a long-term deal was not attainable,” Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman said. “We have decided to rescind the Franchise Tag freeing Josh to immediately become a UFA. We thank Josh for all his contributions and truly wish him well.”

Where will he end up next? Well, let’s just say that just about every fan wants their team to give Norman a look right now:

Stay tuned to see where Norman ends up. Right now, it doesn't sound like he feels like discussing it:
