James Evans, a 5-year-old from San Antonio, might be the toughest hockey fan on earth.

James loves the San Antonio Rampage (AHL), the Colorado Avalanche’s top minor-league team. James and his dad have been going to games since the boy was 6 weeks old. During Sunday’s game, a Texas Stars player shot the puck over the glass, and it hit James in the head.

Onsite paramedics told Evans his son needed stitches, so they rushed to the hospital. James had only one thing on his mind.

“He told the doctor, ‘Can you hurry so I can go back to the game?’” Evans said.

Sure enough, as soon as the doctor finished, they hurried back to the game, arriving with about 30 seconds remaining in regulation. The Rampage went on to win in overtime.

Though James got blood all over his shirt, he’s holding onto it as a badge of honor.

“It’s a hockey shirt,” James told Evans. “It needs blood on it.”

This kid is a legend. Check out more photos below.
