Sadly, the Cristiano Ronaldo versus Lionel Messi argument is now the deadliest debate in soccer. Spanish news agency EFE is reporting that a man murdered his friend during a heated discussion over who soccer's greatest player is in Dubai.

According to reports, the argument between two Nigerian men broke out at a birthday party, and it ended with 34-year-old Obinna Michael Durumchukwa throwing a glass bottle at his friend Nwabu Chukwuma. It missed Chukwuma, but he responded by picking up a piece of the shattered glass and cutting his friend's throat with it.

The Ronaldo/Messi debate has caused other criminal behavior in the past, too. After Messi beat Ronaldo to win the FIFA Ballon d'Or earlier this year, the Barcelona striker's fans celebrated by vandalizing a statue of CR7 in Portugal. But things had never escalated to this level. What a senseless act of violence.
