Earlier this season, Jeremy Lin revealed that many security guards stop him when he’s on his way into NBA arenas because they don't realize he's a player. In fact, a security guard for his own team, the Hornets, gave him a hard time when he walked into Time Warner Cable Arena for the first time back in September.
And somehow, it’s still happening. While speaking with ESPN.com, Lin revealed that, as recently as this week, a security guard stopped him when he was walking out of the Barclays Center in Brooklyn after a game against the Nets. He said that he doesn’t even get upset about it anymore, but it sounds like a real hassle.
“It’s one of those things where it literally happens everywhere,” Lin said. “At opposing arenas, it happens all the time. Just the other night in Brooklyn, I was trying to leave [Barclays Center] and one of the ladies was like, ‘Hey, I need your credentials for you to pass.’ And then someone else was like, ‘Oh, he’s a player. He’s good.’ I’m used to it by now. It’s just part of being Asian in the NBA.”
Linsanity has obviously died down a lot over the last few years, but if you work at an NBA arena, how do not know who Lin is? Whatever the case, it seems like this is going to continue to be a problem for him.
