A University ofAkron football player had a rough morning early yesterday after a teammate (and neighbor) mistook him for a burglar and shot him in the stomach. The player who was shot, outgoing wide receiver Andrew Pratt, was then driven to the emergency room by his distraught shooter, offensive tackle Scott Boyett. Boyett believed Pratt to be someone breaking in after he entered his apartment like every TV neighbor ever, without knocking or saying anything beforehand.

Police arrived at the scene after another neighbor called police, but the duo were already waiting at the hospital by then. Pratt told them the shooting was "An honest mistake." And, since both players gave similar stories to their questioning officers, no chargers were filed. In the meantime, Pratt also made a post to his Instagram account from the hospital with the following caption:

"Thank you everyone for the love and support I have been receiving in the past 24 hours. Life is one crazy game and anything can happen to anyone at any given time. One minute I'm getting measurements and showcasing my skills in front of several NFL scouts, to being involved in a horrible accident just 12 hours later that could have easily ended my life. Just two inches higher and I might not be here today. Life is so precious and it should never be taken for granted. I am very lucky. Again thank you all for the thoughts and prayers, I'm going to be ok and make a full recovery. I'll be back before we know it !"
