Terrell Owens has never been a big fan of Cris Carter. After the 49ers beat the Vikings in a playoff game back in 1998 despite playing without Jerry Rice in the lineup, Carter took shots at San Francisco’s wide receivers and reportedly referred to Owens as “mediocre.”

It’s a slight that Owens has apparently never forgotten about. Over the last few years, he has mentioned Carter’s name on Twitter on several occasions:

BIG UPS to @DougBaldwinJr calling Keyshawn & Chris Carter out!!! Chris Carter is the 1 that called me MEDIOCRE back in my 2nd yr w/49ers!!

And most recently, he asked a journalist not to compare him to Carter after he found out that he wasn’t elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame:

@JB_Ricks @criscarter80 @SInow lol! U really comparing me to cris carter??? 🙄🙄🙄 Giving u a hard time. 😜 That guy called me "mediocre" in '97

But just in case you didn’t get the picture, Owens took yet another shot at Carter during an appearance on ESPN’s Mike & Mike in the Morning today. Carter, who is employed by ESPN, was not on the show, but that didn’t stop Owens from suggesting that Carter “begged his way into the Hall of Fame” back in 2013:

Holy crap Owens ripped the sh-- out of Cris Carter. "He begged his way into the Hall of Fame."
That's not fair or accurate but damn.

Nice jacket, CC! Ha.

Owens is making the rounds on ESPN today, so we doubt we’ve heard the last of him talking about Carter and his Hall of Fame snub. Stay tuned to see if he has anything else to say.
