We can forget about any hope of seeing Amir Khan trade blows with Kell Brook at Wembley this summer.

The two-time former world champion has confirmed he'll step in the ring with Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez in Las Vegas on May 7th, in a bout that will be for Alvarez's WBC middleweight title.

Alvarez has only lost once in 48 fights – that loss came to Floyd Mayweather – and the upcoming fight will be Amir Khan's first fight at middleweight, having previously competed at lightweight, light welterweight and welterweight.

Alvarez has knocked out 32 of his 48 opponents.

Khan hasn't fought since beating Chris Algieri on points in New York last year and will jump two weight classes to face Mexican world champion, Alvarez.

Should he be successful in taking the WBC world middleweight title, he'll be open to a range of superfights at one of the most competitive divisions in boxing, including pound-for-pound king Gennady Golovkin and British sensations Billy-Joe Saunders and Chris Eubank Jr.
