We all know that Kevin Durant is going to the Warriors as a free agent this summer so don't get your hopes up, Knicks fans.

But if you are the eternal optimist, a report from ESPN New York says the Knicks might have a chance to lure the Thunder sharpshooter to the Big Apple if they were to hire his former coach, Scott Brooks

Brooks is a name to think about, for one reason: The Knicks have been informed that their chances of landing Kevin Durant this summer would be influenced by hiring Brooks, according to league sources.

After firingDerek Fisher Monday, the Knicks elevated assistant Kurt Rambis to the head spot and it remains to be seen whether president Phil Jackson will hand Rambis the reins for more than just this season or go in a different direction. Jackson has talked about how he wants a coach that will follow his principles and philosophies—AKA run the triangle offense—and Brooks never did that with the Thunder. Nor does he have any obvious ties to Jackson like Rambis does, or Fisher did.

This concludes our latest post of wild Knicks speculation.
