Just two years ago, Jeff Hornacek finished in second in the NBA’s Coach of the Year voting after helping the Suns improve from 25-57 during the 2012-13 season to 48-34 during the 2013-14 season. Today, he is reportedly out of a job.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski and The Vertical, the Suns decided to fire Hornacek early this morning after the team’s 91-78 loss to the Mavericks in Dallas on Sunday night. It was the Suns’ 14th straight loss and the road and their 19th loss in their last 21 games. And while the team has been forced to deal with a string of injuries this season—including a season-ending knee injury to guard Eric Bledsoe—they have gotten off to a really disappointing 14-35 start to the year, especially when you consider that many NBA analysts predicted they would make the NBA Playoffs before the start of the season.

Hornacek is the third NBA head coach to be fired this season with Nets coach Lionel Hollins and Cavaliers coach David Blatt being the two others.
