Kobe Bryant is having a bad season but he's still leading with over 700,000 All-Star votes. Yes, All-Star voting is a shoddy business, and John Wall is one of the few players getting overlooked because of it.
Wall and the Wizards have had a bad start to the season; they gave the Lakers one of their five wins. However, Kyrie Irving has played in just three games this season. So Wall should be ahead of Irving in the All-Star votes, right? Nah. Irving is at second place with 138,191 votes behind Dwyane Wade's 300,595 votes. Wall is at fifth place with 103,094 votes. Wall isn't happy about it.
"It's a joke," he said. "I played like horseshit the first month and a half but I still was averaging like 16 and eight. That's not bad numbers."
It's also worth noting that Wall has been putting up All-Star worthy numbers (19.5 PPG, 9.7 APG) despite nagging injuries to his right knee, which includes a strained ligament and a bruise. He also has a high ankle sprain and a bone spur.
Although he really shouldn't have to, Wall tried to play devil's advocate. He reasoned that Irving would've been putting up All-Star numbers if he played this season: "If he was healthy he probably would be in that position because he'd be playing well. I can see him there because that's how talented he is."
But should would've been numbers count?
