When the Knicks acquired Robin Lopez this past off-season, a lot of people wondered if the center would share a place with his twin brother, Brook, the Nets' franchise player and New York metropolitan area resident since 2008.

It seemingly made sense. With the rent being too damn high and all in New York and a notoriously close relationship, co-habitation appeared to the logical route for the seven-footers.

That is, until their cats entered the equation.

The brothers told the New York Post that they gave the idea some thought but ultimately decided against sharing a pad because their beloved Poupin (Brook's cat) and Prince Edward Zephyr (Robin's) "really wouldn’t get along. They just wouldn’t allow it.”

“Brook’s cat is very two-faced,” Robin tells The Post. “Everybody loves Brook’s cat. To everybody’s face, he’s such a nice cat. And it may sound like I’m joking, but I am dead serious. He acts like a lazy, sweet cat when everybody is looking. But when their heads turn, he’ll try to chase after [my cat] Edward. The second I lay eyes on him, he’ll act like, ‘I’m a cherub. I’m innocent.’ I’m not buying it.”

The brothers will face off as cross-town rivals for the first time Friday when the Knicks host the Nets at Madison Square Garden.
