The answer would appear to be yes.
Anytime an extended shot of the crowd is shown, there's a certain amount of risk that something unseemly could end up hitting the broadcast. It wasn't the first time a fan was caught displaying this particular bit of potentially illegal behavior, and it certainly won't be the last.
If there's a bright side for the ESPN technical director who was responsible for airing this, fans have been up to shenanigans that would be a far worse look on national television lately.
