FIFA president Sepp Blatter was scheduled to hold a press conference on Friday, presumably to answer questions about the confirmed dates for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar which is now set to take place in November and December.

That press conference was abruptly canceled, however, probably due to the fact that the Swiss Attorney General announced that criminal proceedings have been opened against Blatter for “criminal mismanagement” and “misappropriation of funds.”

On the one hand, the OAG suspects that on 12 September 2005 Mr. Joseph Blatter has signed a contract with the Caribbean Football Union (with Jack Warner as the President at this time); this contract was unfavorable for FIFA. On the other hand, there is as suspicion that, in the implementation of this agreement, Joseph Blatter also violated his fiduciary duties and acted against the interest of FIFA and/or FIFA Marketing & TV AG.

Blatter was interrogated following today's meeting which confirmed the World Cup details, and had his office searched by Swiss authorities.
