According to Wikipedia, 22.8 percent of Americans do not identify with a religion, which includes the 3.1 percent of atheists and 4 percent of agnostics in this country.

Texans running back Arian Foster is now actively working to represent this minority.

In an interview that will appear in ESPN the Magazine, Foster explains why he is a nonbeliever, and why he feels like now is the best time to take his lack of religion public:

None

While many who live in a country where 77 percent of the population believes in angels are sure to take issue with Foster's open lack of faith, the four-time Pro Bowler has joined forced with nonprofit group Openly Secular to more carefully craft his message. According to Todd Stiefel, the chair of Openly Secular, Foster's "confession" is no small feat:

None

It remains to be seen how Texans fans—and fans of the NFL in general—will react to this recent revelation.
