Rafael Nadal's new watch is so expensive he doesn't ever let it out of his sight.

The Spanish tennis superstar is used to being the talk of Roland Garos following his dominant clay court displays but never for his fashion statements – until now.

Nadal has been wearing a super limited edition Swiss watch by luxury brand Richard Mille, worth a staggering $775,000 (or £505,000), on the court. The heavy duty RM27-02 is able to withstand 5,000 Gs of force and is made from carbon, quartz and titanium screws.

Only 50 models of Rafael Nadal's watch have been made.

While nearly all tennis players have sponsorship deals with watch manufacturers, very few choose to wear them during play and will instead slap them on their wrists for post-match media commitments.

Nadal has actually already had two watches stolen while on tour. The first, taken from a locker room, was never recovered while the second was lifted from his hotel room and eventually tracked down.

At a value of $775,000, it's no surprise Nadal isn't taking it off.
