Unfortunately, Michael Sam's football career has again been put on hold. After becoming the first openly gay player to sign with the CFL, the defensive end has left the Montreal Alouettes' training camp for undisclosed personal reasons.

"The Montreal Alouettes fully respect Michael Sam's decision and rally around him to offer him all time and support needed," a statement from the Alouettes. "The team has left the door open and Michael is welcome to come back whenever he feels ready."

Although he's broken barriers on both sides of the border, Sam has yet to play a regular season game of professional football. He was let go by the Cowboys' practice squad and Rams, and this news comes at the eve of Montreal's first exhibition game of the year. Regardless, hopefully all is well with Sam.
