It's been almost five years now since Brett Favre last stepped on to an NFL field. He sustained a concussion during a Vikings game against the Bears in December 2010 and never played again. But despite this, Favre—who reportedly turned down the opportunity to play in 2013 when he was contacted by the Rams—still thinks he could play in the NFL in 2015. He's not actually going to try to prove it to anybody, but…

"I think I could play," he told Sports Illustrated for their new "Where Are They Now?" issue, before adding a disclaimer. "As far as throwing. Of course, we're not trying to start some he's-coming-out-of-retirement deal."

Favre added that he doesn't think he's got what it takes to actually play the quarterback position from a mental standpoint in 2015, but he believes he still has the physical attributes necessary to play NFL football.

"Do I think I could play and lead a team?" he said. "Look, no. But I could play. I could make all the throws I made before. I just couldn't throw it near as far, but that never matters anyway."

Don't let Chip Kelly hear about this! Or else…
