Raheem Sterling's contract saga at Liverpool is about to turn ugly.

The winger is set for showdown talks with Brendan Rodgers on Friday but it appears that any hopes the club may have had that Sterling will stay at Anfield beyond this summer have all but evaporated after a stinging rant from his agent.

Sterling's agent, Aidy Ward, told the Evening Standard:

"Carragher is a knob. Everybody knows it. Any of the criticism from current pundits of ex-Liverpool players – none of them things matter to me. It is not relevant.

He is definitely not signing. He's not signing for £700, £800 or £900 thousand a week. He is not signing."

We await Jamie Carragher's response with baited breath.
