A Football Signed by Jay Cutler Goes Up for Auction, No One Bids

Those pets are going to have to get money some other way.

To the Bears, Jay Cutler was worth a seven-year, $126 million contract. To the people at a Chicago pet-adoption auction, not that much.

The Chicago Tribune reports that a football signed by Cutler was being auctioned off. Did anyone want to put up money to help pets in need? Nah. No one bidded.

A dad ended up buying the football for $100 after the auction for his son, who's a Bears fan. So the story does have a happy ending (but, then again, not really; the kid still has Cutler as his team's quarterback). The audience wasn't exactly "a football crowd," but still: They'd rather that puppy in need come up with a side hustle than bid on a Cutler-signed football.
