Syracuse freshman Hayes McGinley woke up last Monday morning with his bizarre name (it sounds like it's straight outta the Titanic's passenger manifest, or something), a cut-up face, and a fresh arrest record, but without his spot on men's lacrosse team. As first reported by Syracuse.com, McGinley, a 20-year-old redshirt midfielder, was beaten up after he tried to instigate a brawl with a 29-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman.

On Saturday, March 14, an intoxicated McGinley was arrested at around 11 p.m. According to police, after a night of drinking, he tried to get into the woman's car, presumably against her wishes. The 29-year-old man tried to stop McGinley from entering, only to get socked in the face. With the man out of the picture, the argument between McGinley and the woman escalated, leading to her throwing the first punch and McGinley following up with a punch to her face.

McGinley was charged with two counts of second-degree harassment and was arraigned the following morning. The woman suffered a bloodied lip and was not charged in the incident. McGinley was later released from jail and has since been suspended indefinitely by the Syracuse lacrosse team.
