Kansas State basketball fans haven't had a whole lot to celebrate this season. The Wildcats are just 14-15 on the year, and prior to last night, they had lost eight of their last 10 games. So when their team managed to knock off its rival Kansas 70-63 at home on Monday, the fans let loose by storming the court.

That presented a problem, though. Because while court-storming is something that just about every college fan base in the country has taken part in in the past, there were a few K-State fans that got out of control last night. One fan ran into Kansas player Jamari Traylor and checked him with his shoulder on purpose:

Another fan taunted a group of Kansas players, which caused a Kansas assistant to grab him and put him into a headlock:

And in the mad scramble, Kansas head coach Bill Self nearly got crushed up against the scorer's table:

It was quite the scene. Fortunately, no one sustained any serious injuries. But after he managed to make his way off the court, Self criticized the K-State fans for some of the things that they did and said that a change needs to be made to prevent court-storming from happening in the future.

"It's a ballgame," he said. "It's not about chicken-winging somebody when the game's over. Hopefully, they can get that corrected. It's fine if you want to celebrate when you beat us, that's your business. That's fine. But at least it shouldn't put anybody at risk from a safety standpoint."

He also said that he believes something really bad is going to happen eventually during one of these post-game celebrations.

"Somebody's going to hit a player, and the player's going to retaliate, and you're going to have lawsuits and cases, and it's just not right," he said. "There's just no place to be unsafe. If you do it, at least do it around center court. Don't do it at the other bench."

Kansas State has promised to review tape of the court-storming to see what security could have done differently to prevent fans from running into Kansas players and coaches. Do you think the K-State fans went too far?
