Earlier this month, Tim Irvin—a four-star high school football recruit who plays defensive back and is the nephew of former Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvincommitted to the University of Texas at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas. At the time, he said that he was going to play for the Longhorns because he felt Texas was "the right spot" for him.

But apparently, Irvin had a change of heart after a recent trip to Auburn and decided that, rather than attending Texas in the fall, he's going to run with the Tigers next season and play in the SEC. He made the announcement on Twitter after visiting Auburn over the weekend:

1.

Fair enough, right? Maybe he just felt more at home at Auburn. Or maybe, just maybe, there were other factors at play. Because in addition to changing his Twitter background to reflect his new commitment, Irvin also sent out a suspicious Snapchat photo earlier this week that featured him holding a gigantic pile of money. It was captioned, "Money baby":

2.

And some angry Texas fans weren't happy about it. So they immediately questioned why he had such a sudden change of heart after committing to Texas about three weeks ago—and said that the money must have had something to do with it:

3.

It forced Irvin to issue an explanation for the shot of the money. And while he's since deleted that explanation, someone screengrabbed it. In the tweet, Irvin thanked his Aunt and other people in his family for giving him the money as a "gradation gift":

4.

We don't want to accuse Irvin of doing anything wrong here. But at the very least, he showed some really, really poor judgement when he sent out a Snapchat featuring a pile of money. He had to know that people were going to question the money in relation to his sudden commitment change, right? Er, right?

Obviously not. And now, he's going to have to deal with an entire fan base hating him because of how he chose to go about announcing his commitment to Auburn.
