The Cowboys Are Out, But at Least Jerry Jones Won Executive of the Year

Jerry Jones is still winning at the age of 72.

The Cowboys really weren't supposed to make it this far to begin with. People predicted another middling season , and Jerry Jones' friskiness with young women made it look like his team was headed into another season of being joke fodder. Instead, the Cowboys finished with their best record since 2009 before losing to the Packers thanks, in part, to a no-catch call (Ball don't lie!).

Dallas fans may be bitter, but there's some good news. Jones was named the 2014 NFL Executive of the Year by the Pro Football Writers of America. Fair trade-off for a shot at the Super Bowl, no?

Last year wasn't perfect; there was that picture and the fact that he really wanted to draft Johnny Manziel at one point. He dodged a bullet on the latter — plus, Tony Romo has been great this season — and watched his team go 8-0 on the road with the league's best running back behind it. Compared to previous seasons, it wasn't so bad being a Cowboy.
