The Lionel Messi transfer saga has taken another turn.
This time, Mexican newspaper El Economista have reported that Bayern Munich have joined the race for the Barcelona superstar's signature and – more importantly – adidas are willing to fund half of the deal.
Lionel Messi is tied to an €18 million per year endorsement deal with adidas but an internal report from the sportswear giant reportedly says that 70% of fans associate Messi more with their biggest rivals, Nike – who currently produce Barcelona's kit.
Rumours suggest that adidas would prefer Messi to join Germany's biggest club, Bayern Munich and that they could be willing to pay as much as £120 million to make the deal happen.
