After making headlines last week for his comments on (and reaction to) Vince McMahon and WWE, former WWE champion CM Punk announced last night during UFC 181, that he has a new career venture: mixed martial arts.

Following his acrimonious departure from WWE, Punk (real name Phillip Brooks) has signed a contract with UFC and will begin his MMA career in 2015.

Brooks stands at 6’ 2” and is 35 years old, so there are plenty of practical questions about how he will fit in the UFC landscape. He said that he has not picked a weight class yet, although he’s likely to go with middleweight. “When I'm finished, everybody's going to have to respect me because I have come here to fight,” Brooks said on last night’s broadcast. “I'm either here to win or get my ass kicked.”

While it’s tough to know if Brooks will actually be any good, one thing’s for sure: a ton of people are going to watch.
