As we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving tomorrow, what are you thankful for? We're thankful for a lot of things related to sports. But mostly, we're thankful for stories like this one involving Gerald Wallace. There are so many negative things going on in the world of sports right now that it's nice to see that there are positive stories out there, too.

Recently, Wallace—who has been buried on the bench in Boston with the Celtics this season—sat down with a little boy named Davis who has down syndrome. And apparently, meeting Wallace was exactly what Davis needed. Because Davis' mother Sharon Randall just wrote a letter to Wallace on a website called The Mighty. And in it, she thanks Wallace for doing what he did.

"I don't know if Davis mentioned it or not, but he wants to be a professional basketball player, too," she writes. "Although the slim odds for making it into the NBA would discourage most, Davis will not be deterred. His optimism is one of his best qualities…So as we navigate the terrain of guiding this child as he grows, we thank you for giving us a story to sustain his dreams and bridge the gap. We'll talk of the time when he sat with Gerald Wallace, and shot a hoop or two, and hope that gets him—and us—close enough."

It's a touching letter and something that you should definitely read if you've had your fill of negativity for one day. You can find it here. It's a reminder that there are great stories in the sports world that we should be thankful for and pay attention to on a regular basis.
