With just seconds to go and his team down by two points during their game against Manhattan, Patriots guard Jalen Jenkins nailed a three-quarters court, last-gasp heave to snatch a victory from the jaws of defeat last night for George Mason University. The visiting Jaspers fell to 1-4 after the shocking defeat.

It’s a devastating loss for Manhattan, which led the game by eight points with a minute and 20 seconds remaining. However, at the three second mark, George Mason sunk a three-pointer and then quickly fouled, sending Manhattan’s Shane Richards to the line to shoot two free throws with the score in his team’s favor, 62-61. Richards made the first but missed the second in order to keep the clock running.

Unfortunately for the Jaspers, George Mason had exactly enough time to get one last shot off. Jenkins took full advantage of the opportunity.
