Did you catch comedian Aries Spears on ESPN's SportsNation yesterday afternoon? If so, we hope you enjoyed it, because there's a pretty good chance that Spears won't be back on the show anytime soon. And that's because during the course of the show, Spears made a ton of jokes. But one in particular didn't seem to sit well with the hosts of the show or some viewers.

At one point, Spears brought up Michael Sam, who is, of course, the first openly gay player in NFL history. And then, he made a joke about Sam that didn't get very many, er, any laughs (save for the awkward laughter from some people in the studio at the time).

"I went out and got my first Michael Sam jersey," he said. "It's got 15 S's on the back."

It's definitely not the worst Michael Sam joke that Spears has told (we found this doozy that he posted on Twitter last month—SMH). But it caused SportsNation's Michelle Beadle to give Spears the evil eye and forced her co-host Marcellus Wiley to say, "You ain't right."

And after the show was over, Spears took to Twitter to let his fans know that he probably wouldn't be welcome back on ESPN in the future:

He also defended his joke on Twitter a short time later:

But the damage was done. And after seeing it, even The Iron Sheik weighed in with some brilliant commentary on Spears:

1.

ARIES SPEARS YOU FUCKING WORSE THAN YOUR SISTER THE BRITTNEY

— The Iron Sheik (@the_ironsheik) October 1, 2014

Ha. Spears definitely could have said way worse things on the show. But he probably would have been best off just leaving the entire topic of Michael Sam alone.
