Today, the University of Maryland and Under Armour announced a 10-year partnership extension that will see all 20 of the school’s varsity sports programs outfitted in the Baltimore-based company’s gear through the 2023-2024 school year. “The University of Maryland is an integral part of Under Armour’s history, culture and identity,” said Matt Mirchin, Executive Vice President, Global Marketing, Under Armour.

Speaking of history, the University of Maryland football team will unveil their new UA uniforms this weekend, when they looked to stay undefeated against West Virginia. And the uniforms couldn’t pay a better homage to the state of Maryland. The new unis will pay tribute to the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Baltimore at Fort McHenry during the War of 1812. The valiant defense of the fort inspired Francis Scott Key to compose “Defense of Fort McHenry.” You may know it better as the “Star Spangled Banner.”

If these new unis don’t inspire patriotism and tradition, then we don’t know what does. Check out a few shots of the new kits above, and don’t forget that freedom and football are part of what makes this country great.
