Mario Balotelli Leaving AC Milan

Earlier this summer, a short time after Liverpool lost the services of Luis Suarez, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers was asked about the idea of his club bringing in someone like Mario Balotelli to help replace Suarez. However, at the time, Rodgers said that, while he respects Balotelli's skills, Liverpool would not be adding him to their roster this year.

"I was asked the question about Balotelli last week and spoke about what a talent he is and excellent player he is," Rodgers said. "But I can categorically tell you that he will not be coming to Liverpool."

It sounds like that might not be true, though. According to reports out of Italy, Balotelli has played his final match with A.C. Milan.

"This is my last day in Milan," he told reporters early Thursday, "my last day at Milanello."

And according to those reports, Balotelli is leaving A.C. Milan to go and play for—you guessed it—Liverpool. His agent is reportedly trying to finalize a transfer to Liverpool right now, which would put Balotelli back in the Premier League after a year away from it. He last played in the Premier League in 2013 during his stint with Manchester City.

Nothing is 100 percent official just yet. But it sounds like this could happen at some point today, so stay tuned.

UPDATE:

A.C. Milan has confirmed that Balotelli is leaving.
