Back in early May, Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman received a massive four-year, $57.5 million contract extension from Seattle—with $40 million of the contract being guaranteed. It made him the highest-paid cornerback in the league and seemed to solidify him as the best CB in the NFL. However, his standing as the "highest-paid cornerback in the league" didn't last for very long.

Last night, Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson—who came out and said that he thought he deserved a contract extension every bit as big as the one Sherman signed shortly after Sherman signed his deal—agreed to a five-year contract extension with Arizona that's actually way more valuable than the one Sherman agreed to. Peterson's new deal is worth $70 million and will earn him $48 million guaranteed between now and 2020.

This was Peterson's reaction to his new deal on Twitter:

Do you think that Peterson deserved more money than Sherman? Or did the Cardinals just overpay for a guy who, as Sherman himself pointed out back in May, hasn't put up the stats that Sherman has over the course of the last three seasons?
