22-year-old Brazilian defender David Luiz began his professional football journey in Bahia, Brazil at the age of 14. This August, he will begin the next chapter of his career with defending French champions, Paris Saint-Germain. But before Luiz dons the blue, white, and red of Les Parisiens, he still has everything to achieve in the yellow and green of A Selecao. Luiz is making his World Cup debut for his native Brazil this summer, and he's partnered team captain Thiago Silva in the center of defense for every one of Brazil's matches. He also scored the opening goal in Brazil's Round of 16 clash with Chile, and converted the first penalty for his side in the shootout. Now, Luiz stands among not just 11 players on the pitch, but 200 million citizens who crave nothing more than that final triumph of lifting the World Cup on their home soil. In the video above, Nike reveals how David Luiz's father, Ladislau Marinho, is not only seeing his dream come true, but the dream of every young Brazilian born with a ball at their feet. Luiz and Brazil will square off against James Rodriguez and high-flying Colombia tomorrow in Fortaleza, with a semifinal birth on the line.
