Last night, Fox Sports reporter Erin Andrews did an interview with Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright during the 2014 MLB All-Star Game and asked him to clarify a statement that he had made earlier on in the night. Specifically, Wainwright had told reporters that he threw Derek Jeter a couple of "pipe shots" during the All-Star Game, seemingly to allow him to get a hit during the contest. And that didn't sit well with some people, so Andrews asked him to talk about it a little bit and he did. Eventually, he backtracked away from his initial statement and said that he didn't throw Jeter any easy pitches to hit.
Fair enough, right? Apparently not. Because after Boston sports talk radio host Kirk Minihane—who is part of WEEI's Dennis & Callahan Show—heard Andrews' interview with Wainwright today, he flipped out. But he wasn't upset at Wainwright. Instead, he was mad at Andrews for her line of questioning—he didn't like that she tried to blame the outrage surrounding Wainwright's comments on social media—and he even went as far as to call her a "bitch" live on the air.
"What a bitch," Minihane said. "I hate her. What a gutless bitch. Seriously, go away. Drop dead. I mean, seriously, what the hell is wrong with her? First of all, follow up. Secondly, the guy admitted he did it. He told reporters he threw a couple of pipe bombs. So how is that social media's fault?"
And he went on from there. He definitely took things a little, er, okay, way too far and is probably going to face some disciplinary action for going on his tirade.
