According to Yahoo Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski, San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker “should be ready” to play in Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday night.

Parker initially sprained the ankle during Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals against Oklahoma City, and last night it became too much to handle as he sat out the entire second half of the Spurs’ 112-107 victory. Cory Joseph and Manu Ginobili filled in for Parker with mixed success, going just 5-for-17 from the field with six assists combined but with Ginobili also hitting a huge three to put San Antonio ahead near the end of regulation.

Parker’s importance to the Spurs is pretty obvious; he has averaged 17.2 points and 4.9 assists per game during these playoffs, and will be needed to help penetrate against the small ball Miami defense. In last year’s Finals, he averaged 15.7 points and 6.4 assists against the Heat as the Spurs fell in seven games.

For San Antonio to have their vengeance, they'll need Parker on the floor.
