The Nürburgring – it’s odd how just a few twisty miles of German tarmac can either make or break a car. Of course, the circuit is symbolically a bit more than that, and this morning we can confirm a new front-wheel drive champion of the ‘Ring has been crowned.
Renault Sport’s new high-performance Mégane R.S. 275 Trophy-R has topped the time charts with an impressive 7 minute 54.36 second lap around the ‘Ring, thus adding to Renault’s previous lap record-holders with the Mégane R26.R in 2008 and the Mégane R.S. Trophy in 2011.
It’s quite the special car and – permitting you have the funds and live in one of the 15 countries it’s offered in – you could buy one of the 250 rare limited-edition vehicles. Check out the Trophy-R at our previous post, here.
