Sabine Kehm, manager for Michael Schumacher, has announced that the seven-time Formula One champion’s medical files have been stolen from his hospital in Grenoble, France, and are now up for sale to the highest bidder

Schumacher sustained a life-threatening head injury during a skiing accident six months ago, but has recently been said to be out of a coma and making efforts to communicate with his family.

The files have reportedly been offered on sale to the media for around £40,000 ($68,000), and although they can’t be verified as legitimate, the Schumacher camp promises swift legal action if the documents are made public.

The 45-year-old remains at University Hospital Lausanne in Switzerland to continue his recovery.
