It wasn't easy, but Maria Sharapova has won the 2014 French Open, defeating Simona Halep in three sets, 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-4. In her first major final, Halep gave Sharapova a great fight, but it was Maria who proved to be her biggest enemy throughout the match, committing 12 double-faults. Even after losing out on the tiebreaker in heartbreaking fashion after going up 5-3, the 27-year-old from Russian beared down, regained her focus in the final set and finished off Simona to win her second career French Open title.

As for the men's final, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic square off tomorrow.
