This Start-Up Is Promising a $10,000 Autonomous Car Conversion Kit

It's expensive, but a lot cheaper than a chauffeur.

None

If you're tired of waiting for Google's frightened koala suppository autonomous car to hit the market, you can turn to Cruise, which is a start-up company promising a $10,000 kit that will turn an Audi A4 or S4 into a semi-autonomous vehicle.

Of course, there's more than once catch here. It will only work in the SF bay area, the company is only making 50 for now, it doesn't work in fog (not that SF ever has any fog), and it requires the owner to plop a big ugly sensor array on top of his car. Seriously though, it only works on San Francisco highways but not if it's foggy or raining? This might be the least useful $10,000 product ever made.

We'd'll wait for Mercedes, Google, and the like before hopping on this bandwagon.
