Last week the Missouri Senate spooked Tesla by making a last minute effort to ban direct sales. A rider with anti-Tesla language was attached to a bill about ATVs and passed by the Senate. But now that the bill made its way to the house, it's dead, according to House Majority Floor Leader John Diehl. Tesla can stop worrying.
For now at least.
The legislation won't be passed by the House, but it will be brought up again next year. Diehl held a meeting today with Tesla and the Missouri Auto Dealers Association, which has been lobbying against Tesla. "They’re going to work on it in the next year and try to find some agreement," Diehl said.
In other words, there's been a temporary treaty in the latest battle between Tesla and car dealerships. Don't expect peace for long.
