The Jaguar F-Type is an epic car and no one is trying to denounce that, but just look at this pre-production Jaguar XE in the flesh and bones, and try not to get a little hot and bothered.

Jaguar released this teaser shot of the upcoming XE sports sedan, the first model to be built on the company’s new all-aluminum platform. Slotting underneath the XF, the XE will be powered by the 2.0L Ingenium four-cylinder gas and diesel engines as well as the F-Type’s 3.0L V6. Power – as you’ve already guessed – is headed to the rear wheels, but an all-wheel drive version is expected as well.

Just look at that shape. The grille makes a nice flourish on the F-Type with XF styling, the rear overhangs seem five parts sports car to one part sedan, and the silhouette looks to be styled by the eye and not a calculator – as if every muscle is trying to burst out.

If it goes as well as it looks, this just might become the new luxury standard.
