First Look: Mazda Shows Off the New Chassis of the 4th-Gen MX-5 Miata

Mazda celebrates 25 years of Miata with a new MX-5 chassis.

That was essentially my order of activities this morning, as I was pretty excited to see the big display of Miatas that Mazda had announced. And I wasn't disappointed. There is a stable of historic MX-5 prototypes, racers, and one-offs (gallery coming), capped by the brand new MX-5 Skyactiv chassis. 

Two things you need to know: It's going to be 220 pounds lighter than the previous model (which was already a paltry 2,593 pounds with a manual). And this is what it looks like: 

As you can see it has multi-link rear suspension and double-wishbone in the front. Those are pretty much the only details we know right now. You better believe it will be more rigid, it'll probably be a lower center of gravity somehow, and it'll be more efficient. More details when we know 'em.
