Anybody who thinks F1 is boring should watch a replay of this race, it was truly unbelievable. Mercedes AMG F1 clinched the top two positions in Bahrain with Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg after a close battle all race. A safety car in the second half of the race brought the two cars close together (on different tire strategies) and it was neck and neck from there on out. Check out the video above for the incident that brought out the safety car – Pastor Maldonado had a bit of a run-in with Esteban Gutierrez.

But the big stories continued all the way down the line, with Sergio Perez in the Force India taking the last spot on the podium in only his third race for the team. Perez was followed closely by young Red Bull front-runner Daniel Ricciardo, who made some incredible moves on Nico Hulkenberg (fifth) and teammate Sebastian Vettel (sixth).

We heard a great radio message from the Red Bull pits as Ricciardo sat behind a slowing Vettel; “Daniel is quicker than you, let him through please.” Vettel will not be happy about losing out to Ricciardo on that one.

The intra-team rivalries continued with Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas, who finished seventh and eighth for Williams F1. Massa asserted himself this weekend after team orders challenged his seniority last weekend. Ferrari made the best of a struggling car by finishing out the points; Fernando Alonso took ninth with a close Kimi Raikkonen in tenth.

But Nico Rosberg said it all in the podium interview (conducted by none other than AC/DC’s Brian Johnson). “I really, really don’t like coming in second to Lewis. I’ll be back next race to take the win,” said in the coldest, most clinical manner that we’ve ever seen from Rosberg. Mercedes is running away with the championship, but the fireworks are just beginning between the two Silver Arrows.
