Despite the C7 Corvette still very much in its infancy, Chevrolet has confirmed it will pull the covers off a new seventh-generation ‘Vette variant on April 15, at the 2014 New York Auto Show. The public already got a look at the Z06 and the C7.R in Detroit earlier this year, so we can count those out as the big reveal.
Rumors point to a fixed-roof model, dubbed the Corvette Coupe, which could fill the entry-level segment of the lineup. A pared down C7 would be a great way to get more buyers into a Corvette driver’s seat, especially since prices on the Stingray and Z51 have already gone up a few thousand dollars since its debut. But secretly we’re all hoping for a hyper-Vette ZR1 option. The current Z06 features nearly everything that one could want from a new ZR1 – supercharging, aerodynamic upgrades, carbon fiber, and a limited-slip diff – meaning that if a ZR1 is in the works…it could be a game-ender.
Chevrolet will also officially present the 2015 Camaro Z/28 in New York; you know, the one with “flying car mode.” Stay tuned for more updates as the show draws closer.
